Toddler Room Makeover!!

Picture
I just completed Nala's big girl room - I would love to hear what you think and I would love to help you if you are buying or selling a home!  Here is what I did in her room:
  1. I used a fun coral ceiling color as the main accent color - the color I went with is Lei Flower SW6613 from Sherwin Williams.  If you have read my posts before, you know I love painted ceilings!
  2. Then I repainted her crib and other furniture white (it was gray and cream).  Here is a picture of the crib before.
  3. I changed the light fixture to a chandelier I found at Home Depot (for less than $100!).  From a design point of view, I'm a fan of hanging fixtures or chandeliers in bedrooms instead of ceiling fans.  I like the way a fixture like this adds some flair and goes with the theme of the room. If the room gets stuffy in the summer, I would rather add a standing fan.
  4. I used an all-over stencil to create an accent wall.  I love how it turned out, but, WOW, it took a long time and a lot of patience.  I took some video of the process and will share that soon! Stay tuned :)

NEW Paint + Lights + Curtains = WOW!

Sometimes it's hard to picture how much a few updates can transform a space! I had these before and after pictures taken of a duplex we bought this year on Kingshighway in St Louis.

For around $2,000 we were able to make the entire space much more appealing - we had a contractor paint all the rooms in a warm greige, update the light fixtures, and hang curtains up in one bedroom and the living room. This transformation cost approximately $2000 including labor and materials - money well spent if you are selling or renting your home. :)

If you are considering selling, I can help you give your home the "wow" factor it needs for an effortless sale - a consultation is always FREE!

I love house projects and updating!

I love house projects & updating - especially seeing the difference paint can make!!  Check out these before and after shots of a home I recently sold in Glen Carbon.

Fireplace before and after: This home was built in the late 90s when brick was more popular around a fireplace.  The buyers did a whitewash paint finish that I LOVE! It really gives it a more modern, fresh look.

Island before and after:  The owners painted most of the cabinets white and chose a warm grey for the island.  Another choice I LOVE!

Chartreuse - The color I’m crushing on and the house that has it!!

Picture
Halfway between green and yellow — this fun hue can bring just the right zing as an accent wall or can be paired with neutrals to bring a modern flair.  According to Wikipedia, this color got its name because it resembled the green color of one of the French liqueurs called green chartreuse, introduced in 1764.  Who knew? :)

Check out the home I have for sale at 825 Willoway in East Alton. I totally LOVE the fresh chartreuse color they picked for their living room. It works beautifully with their wood floors and curtains.
